Poetry: I Wish I Were A Fresh Water Mermaid

I Wish I Were A Fresh Water Mermaid

By Margie Peterson

There was a special rock
That three young girls could share
With their backs to each other
Their hair floating up to the sky.

It was the best rock for diving
To explore the sandy bottom and dream.

Now,
I hibernate on land.
Waiting for the May flies to wake. . .
